It started when I was a very young kid. I used to sit and talk with my grandfather. He told me about when he was a young kid, and in the mornings the young boys would whittle pegs for the carpenters. Then after lunch they would carry buckets of water to wet down the pegs that the carpenters would drive into the wood. He also explained how in the winter they would sit in the barn and make furniture. It captured my interest as a young child. Throughout my growing up years I’d build different pieces of furniture used pegs, mortise and tenon joints, and dovetail joints. People would stop by to visit me and were interested in my projects. Almost all of the pieces that I would be working on would sell before I would get them finished. I had my own home improvement and remodeling business for over 40 years. Now I’m living my dream of building rustic log furniture. I no longer work, I just live my dream.
